| Hey do you shimano will license the XTR rotor spline pattern | DeeEight Nov 13, 2002 8:26 PM | | to other disc rotor manufacturers or are they gonna be their typical selves and keep rotor production exclusive to themselves. |

Oh wait...several years ago Hope did the same thing but Shimano drones wouldn't go for it then.
I still have wet dreams about my ti-glide Hope hubs with splined rotor interface. |
| As it happens Mountain Cycles/ProStop did it in 1992... | DeeEight Nov 15, 2002 1:14 AM | | predating Hope or Shimano's use of a splined rotor interface. The major advantage is much improved hub/fork clearance as there's no bolt
heads to worry about, just a nice flush fitting lockring that's barely 1mm thick. Also rotor changes would be quicker since you need only unthread one lockring, not six bolts. |
| How about the cost of the replacement rotors? | Quattro Nov 16, 2002 12:15 PM | | It seems the Shimano rotors would be a lot more expensive to
replace than the easier to manufacture 1 piece disc. |
