| Avid discs - varying lever engagement point | Dave S Nov 15, 2002 7:11 AM | | I just recently got my avid's installed and broke in. The problem I am having is that the rear engages rather quickly into the lever's pull (maybe 10-20%, which I like. The front brake engages about half way (or more)into the lever's pull. If I adjust the front pad adjusters so they engage at the same point as the rear, I will get very heavy drag.
I am running both speed dial adjusters at max leverage.
I don't think my rotor is bent, because it is a constant drag during the whole revolution.
When I first installed them, I used a different front wheel for the first 10-15 miles, possibly this may have caused the pads to break in differently than what is ideal for my current wheel?
Should I just ride 'em and hope that they develop equal power in time?
any other suggestions? |

If it then rubs as you move the outer pad closer, your rotor needs truing. |

| yep... | Dave S Nov 15, 2002 9:58 AM | | did that. 2 or 3 times. Each time I got the same result.
Do you set your leverages differently to compensate for a problem similar to mine? |
| yep... | liatdraH Nov 15, 2002 9:23 PM | | I have my front brake set about halfway and my rear brake set at about midway between half and max. With this set up I get nearly the same engagement point for both brakes. |
