Disc hose on a Manitou Black?(6 posts)

Disc hose on a Manitou Black?teamdicky

I am looking for pics of the hose routing (HAYES) on a Manitou Black. I can't figure out a way to do it cleanly. Without the brace to zip tie to, I am confused. ARGH!

It's not the Black, but you get the idea. I use two cable ties, one on the leg the other on the brace.

It looks like you have the front lever on the right. I am having problems getting nice curves on the way to the brake from the left lever.

I have the front lever on the left. The hose will rub the crown.
This is much cleaner!patmail

I don't have a digital camera but....
My 2002 Fuel90Disk came with Black Elite 80/100's and Hayes Hydro. The left V-brake boss has a plain button head bolt holding down a 3 inch clip into which the hose gently but firmly snaps. It works great to allow enough slack for fork travel without the hose flying in the breeze/in danger of snagging. The clip is made of steel wire, about like a large paper clip except maybe twice as long and thick. You could try calling TREK and begging a free replacement, or bending up a piece of coat hanger or the propper type wire...??? The brake boss end is a loop and then after a 20 degree bend in the middle, an open 2/3 loop at 90 degrees holds the hose.

Alternatively, a simple tie wrap of the type including a mounting hole at the clamp end would be a compromise, bolted into the brake boss?
