Bonty's advice on cleaning ceramic rims...(1 post)

Bonty's advice on cleaning ceramic rims...uber-stupid
Nov 20, 2002 6:57 PM
I went on a minor tirade recently, trying to figure out the "according to hoyle" method for cleaning rims. Unfortunately, Hoyle wrote about how to play cards, not clean rims...

But I did hear back from a guy at Bontrager, who said to clean ceramic rims with a rag, and acetone. (ie nail polish remover, for that one guy out there who doesn't know that) Makes sense, really... acetone might be better at dissolving and cleaning out the brake compound than solvent would be... and no abrasives (ie cleaning pads or steel wool) are necessary that might tear up the braking surface, not even a little.

Just figured I'd share what I'd heard.
