I just got the hew wheelset set after replacing an old Crossmax set. I was using the stock Avid mag pads, which performed well, much better than the XTR ceramic pads ...but the rim sidewalls were already glazed over. Now that I have the new wheels the pads HOWL despite any toe-in adjustment. I'm assuming that with new ceramic surfaces I'll need new ceramic pads. Which pads are better, the XTR ceramic or Avid "green" ceramic or other?
