| had a threesome with the twins... | Farmer John Mar 26, 2003 4:48 AM | | ...the Julie twins that is.
I finally received the last of the build parts for my Cannondale. Why it took that long to get a 9.0 rear derailer and TruVativ crank, I'll never know, but that's my supplier...anyway...
I'm pretty suprised that her ready to ride weight is as low as it is, Using Maguras heaviest XC system and some other "not so light" parts (HG50 11-30 8sp cassette, Ritchey Comp seatpost, stupid Race Face riser bars and SRX bb and Body Geometry Sport saddle), it weighed at just over 22lbs on my (calibrated)Tanita.
but I digress, that should go on the weight weenie board.
I didn't ride them long, it's still a bit wet here in Mi. and there's still some frost in the ground, so I ventured out on a little entrance/exit loop that I knew would be at least dry enough to not leave pizza cutter lines behind me.
Although I know these brakes will bed in and have more power than they do now, I'm pretty impressed. I've ridden short distances on some Hayes and Avid equipped bikes, didn't like the Hayes (it was like flicking a light switch) and the Avids were pretty good, but I know they're more to maintain (Cables, housing....).
I can say this, so far, I love these levers, I'm a one finger braker, the crooks fall right where I need them to. They modulate wonderfully, although I'm sure the mile I got to ride them isn't sufficient to bed the rotors in.
Mikey T, I think I may finally qualify for your secret society... |
| This is disgusting! | Sparty Mar 26, 2003 6:15 AM | | Especially that blatant butt-kiss on Mike T at the, ahem, bottom.

| Threesome with the twins...! | Mike T. Mar 26, 2003 7:00 AM | | Ooooh you devil you. Yeah the Juile is a decent brake for the price eh? Certainly you qualify for the Cult, which by the way is faaaaaaar from being secret. Exclusive, envied, selective maybe but sectret it's not. Anyway.....pic a number that isn't in use on the Magura Cult members' page (warning 7186 is NOT available but 9186 IS), decide if FJ is gonna be your Cult nick and lemme know here eh.
And errrr, no, they are not yet bedded in. Not after a mile.
I would have thought Sparticlescus would have taken you to task over this one -
the Avids were pretty good, but I know they're more to maintain (Cables, housing....).
But maybe we've worn him down and he's surrendered.

| You'll never take me alive! | Sparty Mar 26, 2003 7:34 AM | | I've given up on correcting other people's misconceptions about cable actuated disc brakes. Let 'em believe whatever they wanna. I'll try not to laugh too loudly as I roll on down the trail while they try to figure out how to fix their squirts trailside.
Whatever. I've got mine. That's enough.
RUSTY CABLE CULT FOREVER!!!

Next is some HS-33s for the older bike...Hey, is there an adapter to render those compatible with U-brake studs? |
| Born............... | Mike T. Mar 26, 2003 6:57 PM | | .....May 16th '59 eh? I thought so. Ahh to be so young.
You are now officially Farmer, mcm # 51659 and a member of the illustrious anti rusty cable Magura Cult! I'll install you on the Cult members' page as soon as I can fire up MS Frontpage, probably in the morning.
Welcome! Send beer to -
