Has anyone got an exploded view of the Hayes HMX-1 mechanical caliper? I want to strip it to clean/fix/improve it. There's nothing suitable on the Hayes website. Information by Email, fax (+27-21-417-3014) or site address would be great. Thanks

search for threads by schtoo... he already disassembled, altered, and re-assembled his, to get it to work a lil better.

Then again, I think his final fix to get it to work the best was to replace it with a long-arm Deore caliper, and an XT rotor.

Sorry, been stoopid busy this week.

Don't got the time to give a full rundown of a Hayes rebuild, but search for my name in the brakes department and you should be able to find enough info to do anything to a hayes.

BTW, it still has a Hayes rotor... Gotta change out them Shimano pads though. Stops in the wet, but there is no louder brake imaginable. I'm embarrased to use them even out of anyones earshot.

EBC makes gold for them, problem solved. Just gotta get some ;)
