Ok I just got brand new XTR discs. What is the best way to shim these brakes?


Tell me what I should do in a step by steb basis.

Get some aluminum flashing & automotive disk brake quiet (spray is better). Cut flashing to match back of brake pad surface for all pads. Put pads on newspaper friction surface down. Spray light coating of brake quiet on back of pads. Stick shims (the aluminum pieces you cut out) on back of pads. Spray with brake clean again. Let dry & reassemble.
Really no need to do any of that if you don't have sqealing...AndyH

...issues. I think what the orginal poster is talking about is mounting the calipers to his frame & fork and using the supplied shims to get the proper clearance between the pads and the rotors.
