GustavM troubles , need help (X-post in DH/FR)cman/mcm14121996

Hi there
My 2001 front Gustav is acting up.
It been working flawlessly since spring 2001 ( I have the "new"2002 lever with the black piston , not the recalled with the white piston)
Anyway put it on new fork and put new pads in at the same time , old pads were worn pretty good , in fact the springclip was touching the rotor , better check more frequently.
So I pushed the pistons back while bike was upside down and noticed
some oil being pushed out the venthole in the reservoircap , hmmmmm ,
that didnt happen before , and now the pad wont retract fully , so wheel lock up on less than a full rotation . ok ,so wheel off , pads out , check slavepistons , pistons ok , no scrathes , lube with a little Royalblood anyway , work pistons , pistons retract a little without pads mounted , wipe off everything , check pistons again , still OK ,
push pistons back , mount pads wheel et al , wheel spins , as it should now pads are pushed all the way in , pull lever to set pistons , Whamm Lock up , wheel cant spin 1 full rotation , what gives ??
Loosing a little oil shouldnt cause the wheel to lockup and pistons not to retract , should it , or could it ? The lever snaps back like it always have and it dosnt feel like thers air in there ( I know theres air in there as oil went out) Does the seals at the slave pistons work in únison the leverspring to pull the pistons/pads back , so if there some air in the system , the air will "strecth" and not pull like the oil would (opposite of when air is compressed , giving a mushy feel ) ??
it late here in Denmark , so Im not gonna bleed it tonight to see if it cures it. But Ill post with results after a good night sleep and a bleed.
Cheers Caspar

A good bleed solved everything , Gus is now back to 100 pct and feels like new. Now how am I to convince the missus that i need the new 2003 / 210mm gustav ?? :-)
Cheers

If you already told her your levers work good then your faq'd, dunno man tell her you just need more braking power because of safety reasons so you need a 210mm front and 190mm rear with the new split clamp levers :o) Howzzat? If ya go the safety route they have a hard time argueing that........sometimes.
