what is bad with my avids ?martas

I am new disk user. I use avids mech 2003 160mm rotor breaks almost two months. Perfect break action. My problem is extremely short pads lifetime. First origin ones b3, which I got with my breaks, lasted about 70 hours mainly dry condition. Caliper was cover by gray dust from pads. Second sets b3 worn out during one rainy weekend. I am not big man - 165 lb but use fully rigid ss - maybe break more.

Pads are worn out not evenly - more on "front" than "rear" side in both rear and front calipers.

Is it normal lifetime. My I assume to buy new pads every month? My mails to avid are now without answers.
Thank you for any advices please.

The things bolted to a bike are BRAKES. If they snap in half they BREAK. The title of this board is BRAKE TIME. The FAQ is titled "Disc BRAKE FAQ".

It's under the nose for the spelling challenged to copy.

One day Shiggy and I are gonna snap (break?) because we're avid about spelling. I just hope those who break [sic!] find the formula. All puns intended.

PS - I don't know the answer to your question.

First, I don't know anything about the B3 pads because I bought a previously-owned Avid disc brake and immediately replaced the worn pads with the UCP "ugly condition pads". They seem to last me about 6 months or so.

Second, the uneven wear sounds like an installation issue. Is the outer pad worn at an angle? This would mean the outer pad would have to push the rotor too far to engage with the inner static pad so might get more worn.

Lastly, I recently replaced the Avid with a Magura Marta. Marta was certainly more expensive and I actually had to pay a real mechanic to set them up but DAMN they are soooo nice. I only mention this because of your name.
Yes, the B3 pads have short lifespans.Brandon

Basically they suck.

Get EBC green or Gold pads, or the new C4 pads.

I wish Avid would just go back to whatever compound was on the original '00 pads those lasted well, braked well, and were quiet too.
