what is proper break-in for discs??thejuru

YES, i did do a search on the site, but didn't come up with an adequate answer. can anybody please help me out? thanks!!

.....look in your brakes' manual or on your brakes' site you will probably find the information and it will probably tell you some thing like what Magura says - "At least 30 stops from 30kph".

I just went through the break-in process with Avid Mech brakes, so I can speak to that process. The instructions say, "It may take anywhere from 20 to 40 complete stops to break in Avid pads."

Living on the side of a small mountain gives me only two options at the start of a ride, steeply UP or steeply DOWN. This makes for a great (but dangerous) location for breaking in new brakes.

I rode up and down the hill all evening trying to rapidly achieve the "20 to 40" complete stops when I finished the installation. On the first day, I wore out before the breaks broke in.

In the end, I'd say that it took about three times the instruction estimates for my brakes to break-in. They weren't bad to begin with, but, WOW -- the power really stepped up as they got bedded.
