Troubleshooting XTR discs please...(3 posts)

Troubleshooting XTR discs please...bones
Jul 24, 2003 1:41 PM
I changed wheelsets last night. I was running a PhilWood/hayes setup. As the philwoods are Hayes specific, I had to use my XTR calipers with the Hayes rotors. They worked perfectly.

Last night I changed to an XT rotor and Chris King wheelset and there is a tremendous amount of drag on the rotors.

Any ideas why the difference?

Thanks,
brad.

It would be great if all hubs were exactly the same, but the rotor is probably a bit (even .2mm will make a difference) closer or further from the dropout on the King. Either use some micro washers to space the rotor if you want an effortless wheel swap, or move your caliper.

I have XTR calipers with XT rotors and King hubs, and the front was dragging, so had them swithced under warranty. For the old front caliper, the mounting points had to be filed down almost 1 mm to make everything fit, but the new caliper, I had to add spacers. Everything else remained the smae, just the rotors were swapped, but a huge difference. That's normal.
