|  Holds the bushing sleeve in place... | næstep Jul 25, 2003 9:39 AM | | If I recall correctly, nothing should happen unless you snap the 'C' clip off the backside of the lever, pull the pivot pin out and remove the handle. Loosening the set screw should allow the bushing sleeve to drop out.

|  re: Avid SD Lever ? | Erci Jul 25, 2003 10:24 AM | | That screw is what prevents the lever from flopping around. As your levers get older, they loosen up. Tightening that screw carefully (do NOT overtighten!) will make them feel "new" again.
While lever construction is pretty nice (pin rides on bushings and lever is secured to pin), it's not very durable. Once that set-screw stops holding the lever against the pin well, there will be a LOT of top to bottom play in the lever. This happens to me with all SD levers on rear brake lever only, due to trials moves (locking up the rear wheel).
For normal use, those levers are awesome. |
