| I'm Baaaaaaaaackk!!!! | Mr.Tokyo Jul 27, 2003 2:26 PM | | FINALLY, for the love of Pete, I am back in the states!!! And of course the Miss'es and the little sleep/cry/feed me baby of our's!!
WOW, dare I say that Washington is nice during the summer, but my grass was brown (sprinklers are doing overtime as we speak). The house was just fine, and the cars were too (until the Volvo wagon decided to shear the fan pully key. ARRRRRGGGG!!!!!)
Thanks for all the support and help when I was gone. Uggggg.
Bicycle content: went riding today; I am really out of shape!! BC preps have already started too.

| Welcome Baaaaaaaaackk!!!! | Mike T. Jul 27, 2003 2:57 PM | | Glad to have ya and the whole fan dambly back Newphew Rob! Now just kick back and settle down. You've had a very busy 12 months. Put yer feet up and rock the baby. Take a deep breath. |
| Welcomefreakinback, dude! | Sparty Jul 27, 2003 5:12 PM | | By BC preps I assume you mean elbow benders & pint curls. I'm already bulkin' up around the middle myself -- don't want to be caught without a spare durin' the rides.
My guess is that you've already been told that it's your turn for baby duty for the next four straight months as you've escaped it up 'til this point. You're only as valuable as your last diaper change, dude.
Bike content: I went for a 20 mile spin through town today to/from the bike shop so I could install my new Chris King headset on the Vulture, which is now sporting a Surly Karate Monkey ("suspension corrected" 29er) rigid fork. Ever try to spin 195mm cranks 20 miles on flat pavement in a 34x18 gear? Yoikes! (Yeah, the Vulture is a singlespeed.)
Brake content: The more I ride oversize rotors, the more I believe 185mm should be "standard." Seriously, IMO the brake manufacturers should instruct folks that live in mountainous terrain that rotor size goes with weight -- up to 160 lbs. use 160mm rotors; 161-185 lbs. use 185mm rotors, 186 lbs. & over should use 203mm's. If you live in flat terrain, anything'll do and I'll hoist a beer in yer honor outta pity.
Burrrrrrrrrrrrp!

P.S. I'm on BAYKAYSHUN fur the next too weeks! Kenya tell?!?

| 'bout TIME! dang world affairs, messin up riding time.. | redhaze Jul 29, 2003 7:54 AM | | Welcome back, let the grass stay brown, you don't have to mow it, it comes back green in the winter. Park the Volvo and bike to work/base. The gate guards look at ya funny when ya blow by but you don't have to mess with parking. (I commuted 6 months from Port Orchard to Bremerton, 30 min drive/20minute find parking, walk to ship vs 40 minute bike??)
Help you wife get plugged into the asian community, i bet it'll help to get used to this country. the base should have some more info for ya.
Keep an eye out on the SS board for rides, you'll like them. and the wife 'n kid can hike the same areas.
