Shortning Hydraulic Lines? Simple questions:(4 posts)

Shortning Hydraulic Lines? Simple questions:Trevor!
Jul 29, 2003 2:30 AM
Hey everyone,
Just a simple question - I have some Hayes Brakes but the lines are too long indeed on my bike. I have some spare olives and wish to shorten my lines.

Simple question is What tool can I use to cut the lines? A knife, Stanley Knife? or something else?

Thanks, I tried to search this question but the results were well off.
Trevor!
A sharp knife with a block of wood is all I use (nm)SS_MB-7

A Stanley type of knife works best. Use a fresh knife, the cut has to be straight and clean. A slightly blunt blade will tend to squish the hydraulic line before it cuts and not cut cleanly through the filament mesh, which is often layer within the line.
