XTR Hydro pads Rattle...Any suggestions?Bikezilla

The pads on my front XTR calapers rattle qite a bit. So much so I thought the spring in my fork was making the noise. It wasn't.

Everything seems tight, apart from the pads. The otherwise work fine.

Setup:
'03 XTR hydro Calapers
Std XT 8" Rotor front, 6" rear
'03 XT Hydro Levers
'03 Marzocchi Z1FR QR20
GRC adaptor

The rear pads seem fine.

TIA

Spread the pad "helper" springs apart more to help the pads spread...AndyH

...apart when you release the brake lever.

My XT pads developed a bit of a rattle and all I had to do to solve the issue was remove the pads and this metal spring-clip, and gently spread the spring-clip "arms" apart more to help apply more pressure to the pads so they'll sit tight against the pistons when not braking.

Cheers,

One thing to check...AK Chris

... when I set mine up I forgot to put that funky claw-shaped spring thing in between the pads before dropping them in and they rattled. The brakes worked, but the pads weren't firm against the pistons. Otherwise, I dunno...
Thanks, I'll give it a look. nm.Bikezilla

Now to kill the brake rub. Not related to the rattle or fix.

THANKS!
Excellent, glad it worked for you! [NM]AndyH
