Avid disk mech VS Deore Hydro... experts choice?(4 posts)

Avid disk mech VS Deore Hydro... experts choice?iam

Hi.

I own a KONA Caldera 2001 on which I upgraded the front AVID Single Digit V-brake for a Avid disk mech. I quite pleased with this brake and now was thinking about upgrading the rear as well but I was wondering if it would be worth the extra money to put Deore Hydro on both wheels instead... How are the Deore hydro rated? Do they require continuous maintenance, unlike the good old mechanical disk ?

Thanks for any info on that matter.

Fred
Since you already have one Avid mechanical...AndyH

...if I were you I'd probably just purchase another Avid mechanical for the rear as well. And that's coming from a guy who has used hydraulic brakes in one form or the other for the past 8 years.

I had shim deore hydros on a bike - they got to be good brakes after I added ebc gold pads and avid rotors - save your $ and get another avid mech IMHO.
thanks guys...iam

Thanks guys for the comments.

Yeah I think it makes sense to just grab another Avid mech, they're really good brake for the price and very easy to adjust/maintain.

Later!
