One of my bikes has Ultimate rim brakes and the other has SLs. I ran into the Magura rep and he is a great guy but he said that when you factor in the brake posts that the SLs are actually lighter. What about the wheels, rotors etc. I have King/517/ultimates and King/717/SLs. Has anyone gone through this exercise with regard to weight?

your right, that's where it should have gone. what is "nm"?
"nm" or "NM" or "NT" etc. indicates that the message body...AndyH

NM = No Message
NT = No Text

It's a common courtesy to do this on discussion forums so people don't waste their time and bandwidth clicking on a message topic only to find there isn't any message.
Lighter or not...Homebrew

The dramatic performance gain with disc brakes is much more important than a couple ounces gained or lost. Also, the SLs are only minutely lighter and cost $50 more per brake than the regular Martas.
