AVID BBDB changes in 2004?baratta930

Has anyone heard if the Avid brakes and levers are going to change for 2004? I'm about to order a set but noticed that alot of the web sites have them back ordered. At the beginning of the year, this is usually a sign that they are waiting for new models.

Am I just being paranoid :)

BTW I'm getting 160mm f/r with flak jacket cables and SD7 levers. Will go onto my 2003 Rockhopper FSR Comp. Thoughts on the combo? Will the Manitou Axel fork handle this? It's a pretty flexy fork :(

Thanks

Berardino

...to replace the current Speed Dial levers with something closer in looks to the current "FR" lever design. Yes, the Speed Dial function will be carried over.

I don't know when the change will be taking place. I am also under the impression the new levers bring no new features, other than a change in styling.

Thanks, I found the Interbike coverage on this site and the 7's look like they are carried over with a style change, and the SLs replace the Ti versions.

Should I spend the extra money to get the SL/Ti levers? Is weight the only savings? Are they stronger?

Ti is weight savings only, in fact...f'nætik (aka næstep)

...they're exactly the same parts as the SD7 except for the titanium fasteners. Even carry it back a step further -- the SD5 levers are the same as the SD7, with the exception of the "view port" in the lever body.

Not sure if this will hold true for the new SL levers (I'll have to glance over the Interbike coverage).
SLs seems to say it weighs 140gr ...baratta930

From looking at the picture over at the interbike coverage here, it seems to say that the SLs are just enhanced Tis. They weigh 140gr, that's alot lighter than what the Tis are listed as at Avid's site (186g). Wonder what they will cost ...

I need to be careful or I might become a weight weenie :) (My bike weighs about 30lbs, and I could stand to lose alot more than 50gr :)

Thanks,

Berardino
