| what type of adaptors needed to run martas on manitou | maynard Jan 14, 2004 7:13 PM | | im looking to get some martas to replace my xt discs cuz mike T's site is just to damn good and ive always wanted to be a member of a cult, anyways right now im running xt with a 165mm rotorup font with the shimano adaptor for manitou forks (therefore i have IS mounted xt disc brakes), can i use my existing adaptor for the martas which are also IS or do i have to get a new one? |
| and can you run martas with xt rotors | maynard Jan 14, 2004 7:14 PM | | |
| Dunno about the adatper mess but... | Homebrew Jan 16, 2004 6:08 AM | | Shimano rotors probably won't work. The Shimano rotors are a bit thinner than the Magura rotors. The Magura rotors are 160 so if your XTs are 165, it might not fit. Lastly, the brake track on the Maguras is larger than the XTs so you would have a big problem as the pads wear down.
As an added bonus, the Martas are quite a bit lighter than the XT discs. The Martas can be finicky to get the caliper lined up. It's best to have the disc tabs faced with the Magura Gnan-o-mat tool. Some forks like Fox require quite a bit of material removed. But once everything is setup, it's smooth buttery modulation to give you full control of the bike. |
