What length stroke shock do I need?

| Jeezus man | Zonic Man Sep 4, 2001 1:23 PM | | You gotta go stratos, unless Kevin has one out, which i don't think he does.
Stratos does make one special with the trunion mount thingy though. |
| What I really was hoping for was.... | Internal14 Sep 4, 2001 1:28 PM | | to get a Risse in exchange for the damn astro-5 Fish sold me, that sucked balls, in for a coil over that would fit the Yeti. Hoping to be able to unthread the Trunion Mount off the RockSux and thread onto the Risse coil over...don't know about the thread diameter/pitch though. Wanted to figure out what stroke I need first before calling Fish/Kevin/Dale/Cecil and begging for a swap. |
| Won't fit. Rock Shocccs doesn't match up. | my name is Nobody... Sep 4, 2001 1:50 PM | | sorry.
See other below.
And how dare you complain about a Risse product! Shame on you.

| Supposedly, Kev did one about 2 years ago for Banger99... | my name is Nobody... Sep 4, 2001 1:48 PM | | ..that still seems to be working, although I think Helen (B99's GF) has been riding it for most of that time.
Stratos still makes the trunion, but always seems to run out of shocks (bad manufacturing run-times). Quality, when properly assembled, is top notch. However, that's the rub - PROPER ASSEMBLY following NO DAMN MACHINING FUKUPS.
N.
(Bad Product Procedure: Kill John if it's a tolerance issue, kill Ralph if its bad assembly, Kill Ruben if it never ships out, Kill Lars if the picture looks too Photoshopped. But don't tell Mike anything, he doesn't give a shit.) |
| Yes, they did one for Banger99 and Helen is the wife... | go-ride.com Sep 4, 2001 2:08 PM | | she took a hard one this weekend and dislocated her shoulder. She toughed it out and rode to the bottom, but the shoulder had to be put back in place by a doc. |
| Owch! She's gotta take it easier - shoulders don't heal | my name is Nobody... Sep 4, 2001 2:42 PM | | by themselves! (Mine are still bike-phucked after more than 13 years!)
Looks like they'll need some sauce asap!
and they just moved, too. bummer. |
| 2 inch stroke needed | [s]B Sep 4, 2001 3:54 PM | | the trunion has to be about 5.5 inches from the mounting bolt. this will give you the same set up as this year's straight 6. with the longer shock, you will get a hair over 5.5 inches of travel. [s]B |
| re: 4-Banger changed to 6" w/what length stroke? | DJ Sep 4, 2001 4:02 PM | | You need a 2" stroke and it will bump you up to about 5 3/4 inches. The trunion mount from the rockshox is to thick, stratos makes there own which is thinner. I have the statos helix pro on my 4-banger and love it to death it has taken a beating all summer at Snowshoe WV without a wimper. |
| How's that thing holding up? | SoCalSar Sep 4, 2001 4:27 PM | | Your 4-banger, that is. Mine cracked at the top of the bracket welded to the seat tube that supports the main bearing. Also cracked on the bottom of the same bracket. Also, mine was the third one I know that cracked in the same spot! Mine is a '99, and the others are '00 models. I loved the freakin' bike, but when it's warrantied I'll be selling whatever I get and getting something else. Ride hard, and keep an eye on that bracket ; ) |
