with the progressive shock on the bullit, there might not be much need or reason to have a VPP FR bike, the progressive shock can run a softer spring than a regular shock and not worry about bottom, it has starting compression ajustment(pedal forces), initial stroke compression, ending stroke compression, and bottom out compression ajustment, as well as rebound, these ajustments kind of negate the need for some funky multi pivot bike to cancel pedal forces. I think the 7" travel, dual crown compatable, progressive shock equiped bullit is a hot ticket for 2002.
too many adjustments for Joe Freeride?Whererzitat?!

VPP7 Sighting ?scruzer

I was in Santa Cruz about a month ago for weekend riding when I came across what appeared to be the freeride prototype. It was parked in a bike rack in front of a taco place. I was standing there just trippin on this thing then looked around for the owner. There was a guy and a girl sitting at a table crackin up as they watched me wiggin on this bike. The girl turned out to be a Santa Cruz employee and refused to comment on the bike. This thing was very cool looking and was equiped with one of the new Fox Forx which was also very impressive. It's going to be interesting to see how many people go out and buy one as soon as they hit the market. Myself I'm going to wait it out until the design has proven itself worthy. Any way at that point I did what anyone else would have done and offered to trade my SL for it and got a good laugh!
How V10-ish did it lookWherezitat?!

And most important to me....did you notice a floating brake arm or
mount? Did it have a straight or bent top tube?
Thanks....was that the Taco Bell on Mission or Soquel?

The reasons I think it was the VPP7 is because it did'nt look like any of the photos on pinkbike. It did'nt look like the VPP10 it was more like a bullit with the curved top tube but with a different shock position. The rear shock had more of a vertical position in front of the seat tube. As far as the floating brake arm goes, I did'nt notice because they had V-brakes on the rear. The Fox Forx looked like the 5' travel model and the frameset looked much beefier than their new xc model. I wish I could go into greater detail about the frameset but I only got in about five minuets of drooling. She would'nt bust out and say anything about it so I had to go. And it was'nt taco bell it was some vegitarian burrito place closer to 41st in Capitola. (you never have a camera when you need one!)

They aparently make the frames for SC. It(frame only) was on a display stand with out a rear shock so I could move it thru its travel. Looked nice/strong. Don't know how heavy it was, looked beefy.
