Hey,
Annyone interested in the new Giant XCT AC1 or 2. I have been looking at an Ellsworth, Turner or Titus Switchblade, but I like the thought of saving some cash. Tell me what you think. Please, NO SANTA CRUZ JUNKIES!!!!!
Rode one, not much change for 2002, if anyJm

nothing that I could detect was different from the 2001s(one of my riding buddies here has the 2001). The ones at interbike were very nice, a few with the mini-shivers on em, however it is still a HUGE oversight that they wont warrenty if you use a dual crown fork, that is just bad business for freeride. you would be just as well of with a dozen other freeride frames, remember the giant doesn't even let you put your seatpost all the way down if you run a long one, or raise it if you like to keep it short, so it is not "special" at all in my book, the lack of dual crown compatability is dissapointing. It is not a bad bike, but it sure wouldnt be my first choice for a dedicated "FR" bike.

This being said, my friend knows the dangeres, and is going to put a 98 boxxer on his AC1.
thanks jm, i agreermdc1

Hey Jm,
You hit the nail on the head, so to speak. The Giant has a decent package, but lacks in the areas you mentioned.
Yet, I'm not a huge fan of dual crown shocks because of the turning radius restrictions. I had a dual crown manitou (yes, there are better) on my FSR Elite (a bike with TONS of rear end flex and creek)and the turning radius was problematic in tight single track situations. I think I am going to hold on to my money and save a little more and get an Ellsworth ID.
