| anything good about the 2001 RM 7 | mojo Nov 4, 2001 11:54 AM | | Is the RM 7 a good frame to build up or should I go for a 2002 specialized big hit. I could get them both for the same price and both with a fox RC shock. I like the look of the RM 7 the best, but could be tempted by the big hit. THX |

I know a lot of people have great things to say about the Big Hit though. What year RM7 are we talking about...2001 or '02? Both of the frames are really nice and i think you'd have to test ride them first before you could make a decision... |

Just kidding. Have heard VERY bad things about shock durability on the RM7, but I shouldn't talk, as I've only cruised around a parking lot on one. I'd personally go with the Bighit if you like 24" wheels. I just got my PX with arrow 24" rims and arrow 3.0 and 2.7 tires f/r and it's much better than a 26" with a 2.3 or so. Just my $.02 |
| re: anything good about the 2001 RM 7 | Christian Nov 5, 2001 9:05 AM | | I ride an RM6 DH (00 model) and someone told me something that made a LOT of sense this w-e on the trails... RMs are more of a "race-frame", i.e. if you give em hardcore trashing, they prully won't last very long (not more than a season of racing) (but again what REALLY does last in those cases?)
I ride mine mostly hardcore XC with lots of light DHs and some free-riding (i.e. posing), so RM is fine for me i don't think i ride hard enough to kill it... So if you're a moderate rider who takes care of his stuff, i'd recommend the RM7 it's a REAL sweet frame, if you want something that'll never break i'd go with a brooklyn Machine works... I can't really say much about the specialized coz i've never been on one...
I dunno about being limited to a 24" real wheel tho, at least RM gives you the choice... Also, usually RM stock parts are't very good... The RM7 prully has the best parts apart from the rm9 so u might be ok... Mine is built 100% custom parts... I LOVE rocky mountain... Thrust link works marvels
Hope this helps... |
