ways to ship securlyasb

here's the deal...
I want to buy some used parts over the classifieds and such, but I don't think I can have them CODed here because I'm in a college dorm. Is there any way I can have things shipped and not worry about getting ripped off? One part I want to buy is in canada, does that mean I can't use paypal?

Anyone (Canadians included) can use PayPal. So if the person you want to buy from has a PayPal account, then you can pay through PayPal.
If you can't do COD but you want to be safe, use an escrow service (like www.tradenablle.com). They charge a fee, but you're guarenteed to get the parts. Good luck.
paypal doesnt protect the buyer if i remember correctlyJm

that it would not accept my credit card, however, you pay a certain amount of money to the pay-pal users account, its more of a way to do a "secure" transation of money, but there is no way paypal is going to force the guy with the part to put it in the mail.

This is if I remember correctly, you have to look up the information, this is all I remember right now.

You can do COD, just arrange to pick it up at the UPS center. Usually this can be done after the first attempt.
I live in Canada, and have the same problem...balfadude

UPS and USPS will not COD to Canada. If it's a big ticket item I'd go to Tradenable, if it's small you have to decide if your deal is worth a little risk. Get a phone # from the person, and verify it through an online phonebook like at&t.com. This will allow you to see the persons address.

The nice thing with Paypal is that while the transaction is not guaranteed, the person you send money to...if they've used the service before...will by verified. So you can rest easy, knowing that their address and name is legit.
