If you don't know, don't speak. It weighs around 9.5 pounds, depending on spring and oil height choices. Performance is worth every gram though!
mine is 9lbs.bighit

the monster is often scorned and ridiculed by local villagers.

It's just that I see alot of people, all with good intentions, that give out incorrect or incomplete information. You caught me at the wrong time, sorry I got a little snippy. I've seen wide ranges of reports for Monsters, from 8.9 (musta been dry) to 10 pounds, but never have I heard anything close to 11. Keep helping people, that's what these boards are about, just make sure you give out the right info. Have fun.

really? I've been told that the monster was 11lbs. Out of curiosity, is the Avalanche mtn8 really 13.5lbs? Thanks be to god that somebody here knows what the hell is going on. I sure don't.

Most Monsters are about 9.5 pounds, yes. The Avalanche MTN8 really is in that 13-15 pound weight range, it's basically a MX fork. However, Avalanche will soon be producing an 8" race-able fork called the DHF 8.0, that weighs in around 9 pounds. It also cost half as much as the MTN8, $1900 vs $3300. Check avalanchedownhillracing.com for all the details.
