the dianese.

better fit, and more durable. the azonic sizing is kinda goofy, there's either small/medium, or large/xtra-large. the small/med was too tight a fit on my torso, but the large/xl arms were a bit too long, and sometimes the elbow cup would ride up. plus, the velcro adjustment tabs ripped out very easily, and the mesh fabric was a nipple grater.

the dainese is more expensive, but i think a overall a better product and is worth the extra $$$.

Someone gave me an Azonic but I have also borrowed the safety suit. Spend the extra money for a better fitting and more secure feeling.

It depends on what year model Dainese you want.
I have a 2001 Dainese NERO upper. The chest protection is awful. just some thin padding. I took a handlebar to the sternum at 25 mph straightaway slipup on shale. Needless to say I was off the bike for 5 weeks with a fractured sternum.
The azonic suit I wore in 2000 had EXCELLENT chest protection and is cheap $.
If I was wearing Azonic in 01 I would have had alot less time off the bike and wouldnt have missed a race and messed up my point standing.

The Azonic does grate nipples, but I just wear a wifebeater shirt under it. The Azonic lasts one season cause the fabric is one season worthy. Dainese will last longer.

I suggest the Dainese, as long as the chest protector is made of hard plastic and not fabric. Dainese fits quite nice.

The Dainese NERO is light weight pro protection. I will actually attach Azonic chest protector from my old suit to underside of my Dainese NERO upper. its that good the azonic chest protection.

Dainese makes suits with stronger chest protection then the one I own.
I suggest you get the good Dainese upper with hard shell chest protection.

WHile your at it, make sure you wear the spine guard. It helps.
I have fallen on my back from 9 feet up and landed on fallen trees in the rain. didnt feel a thing! just sat there laughing.
This is the better jacket you are talking about, right?CraigH

I have the 2001 version of this which is a lighter grey fabric with darker grey foam padding. I've seen the cheaper version of the jacket with the waffle foam chest instead of the hard plastic chest.
