Dec 9, 2001 9:46 PM | | Cross-posted to Passion too, so sorry for the duplication. Took a large piece off a 3 1/2 month old Sun Ringle ... I didn't feel the moment of breakage, only noticed when I looked down at my pedal. Is this structural? Are Ringles susceptible to this kind of breakage? |

Dec 10, 2001 3:48 AM | | unfortunately that happens all the time with those pedals,I have the same one's and they lasted only one ride.The pedals are fine as long as you do not ride on rocky terrain because the cages on the pedals are so weak as soon as you hit the underside of the pedal on a rock or other hard surface they break. |

Dec 10, 2001 6:28 AM | | BigRichDL and SDH have both had less thand good luck with zu zu's, and have broken at least one pair each.
Hulkamaniac and I both have zu zu's we've beat the crap out of for over two years and they're still going strong. Mine are barely black anymore from all the rock bashing and his survived casing a rock upon a landing that bent a Race Face LP-DH. The only thing I can think of is both of our pedals were some of the first ones made and were possibly of a higher quality (less brittle) metal.
I'm not sure what I'll get to replace them when the time comes... |

Dec 10, 2001 9:22 AM | | you get what you pay for in platforms, I think. Those zuzus are made of crap die cast metal. If you ride on rocks they suck. Two diferent pairs died on their maiden P-kill runs. One other pair broke on a run a Gambrill in the SNOW!!!! They suck. Its better to spend twice as much and get some pedals that will last 10 times as long.

Try the Atomic TrailKings(the big 14mm ones). I havethem on my Surly and I love them.
