Bike Pic/my do it all RFX(10 posts)

Bike Pic/my do it all RFXkpb

At 34 lbs. it's no light weight XC but it pedals so well that the suspension design makes up for it's weight. To some of you 34 lbs may sound light but I just got into DH and big drops (over 2-3 feet) this year and coming off a 23 lb. hardtail, well you know what I mean.

Bottom line is that this bike saves my butt where my old HT used to punish me for mistakes.
Nice rig!CyberJay

34lbs *IS* pretty light too. Here's a pic of my 44lb RFX, and yes it is a do-it-all bike. I just swap wheels and tires for XC and that takes it down to about 40lbs. I love that frame, great all around bike.

How has the Avalanche changed the ride?kpb

Is it worth the $$$ for the RFX since the suspension works so well anyways? I also had a S5 on my bike last summer and the performance of it was superb. Changed to a SC since I was smashing my knees on climbs and the S5 was almost too plush, also because I'm building a complete DH bike for next summer and the RFX will spend much more time on XC/Freeride/Dirt Jumps and urban than DH.
It's improved it...CyberJay

...The bike just feels better. The biggest difference I noticed was that it pedals MUCH better... hardly any bob. I wouldn't throw away the Fox in order to buy the Avalanche on this bike, but since my Fox blew up twice I got the Avalanche and my troubles are gone.

What is the bolt pattern on the Gravity Check bashring? I can't find out if it is available in a 36 tooth 5-110 pattern or not. Do you know? Is yours 5-94 or 5-110? Also, are you running the Profile DHSS cranks, the bigger ones? That's another question that I couldn't get answered. I've heard about your bike before, and it's good to see it finally. Looks real nice.

Mine is 5-94. I got it from webcyclery, so e-mail Todd and see what else he can get. I have mine covering a 34t ring, I thing it would work on a 36t but not quite as well.

As for my cranks, I'm running standard profiles.

Thanks for the kind words. The bike really does work well for me.

I'll try Todd...thanks JayBulldog

Is that a 24" rear wheel you're running?kpb

If so, what's the biggest tire you've fit with a 24" rear. I'm considering that but was worried since the shape of the chainstay was designed for 26"
Yeah for DH...CyberJay

Works nice to slack out the angles and lower the BB a hair. My XC wheels are 26" F&R.

As for clearance.. I run an Arrow 24x2.75" tire which in the real world is a 2.5" or 2.6". All I can say is, DON'T let your rear wheel get out of true!!! hehehe.
