Last week I posted a question on the 5th Element Vs. Avalanche Bullit upgrade thing. Everyone said go with Avalanche - great. So I go to their website and find the 8inch home modification someone did. I doubt Santa Cruz approves of this mod. Is that from someone on this board? Is it safe for my frame? Is the effort worth an extra inch or so?

Don't go with the 8" kit. I personally think that it's a stupid "upgrade"....I mean, for the love of god, just get a super 8, you know?

I have an avalanche on a 2002 bullit. It is a 7", which is stock. The bike is in the process of being built as we speak. I will have pics up soon and a full ride report as soon as I have sufficient time to test it.

Go with a 6" or 7" kit. The 2001 and older bullits can run the 7" shock (8.5 eye to eye, 2.5 stroke) with no problems or worries, using the original mounting holes. Just have to run it all the way back in the shuttle.

I also got the compression adjuster, which controls the low speed compression valving with a high speed blowoff...we'll see how it works when I mount it up. Again, pics and info to come soon!
