| not much... | Ian F Dec 10, 2001 8:00 PM | | ..for lift served riding. I only really know about eastern Pa.
Bear Creek, which runs races and has a recreational mtb program. It's not the greatest, but it's better than nothing and if you live neear Philly it's close. DH & Dual races are non-Norba. www.skibearcreek.com
Spring Mountain. A bit closer to Philly than Bear Creek, but last year only ran races. No recreational riding. Rockier and steeper than Bear Creek, but with a tad less elevation. There are plans to increase therace program for 2002. DH & Dual races are non-Norba. www.springmountian-fun.com
There are rumors Blue Mtn near Allentown will have a mtb program, but nothing official yet. This would be the bomb - 1000' vertical, reasonably steep terrain, and a detachable quad lift. I'm giddy just thinking about the possibilities...
Jack Frost mtn ran a mtb program a couple of years ago, but I don't know if they did last year. They didn't run any races last year except for some poorly promoted snow races that nobody went to... Jack frost also has paintball areas and MX riding areas.
Whitetail in south-central Pa had a decent program but shut down due to not making enough money. Quite a few here are still crying about it...
Plattekill, NY is about a 4 hr drive from Philly. Many locals go there for the weekend.
There are a few places scattered about to do shuttle runs, but most are secret and you'll need to befriend a few riders before you'll find them. |

It is currently shut down and dont think there are further plans to reopen. Some DH guys who will remain nameless cut trails on the backside of the Mtn which happens to be state gameland. So much for another sweet ride.
