Boxxer vs White Bros DH3(5 posts)

Boxxer vs White Bros DH35150
Dec 11, 2001 12:42 AM
I just bought a 2001 Schwinn Straight 8 frame about 2 weeks ago and I'm going to get a fork for it this weekend. I found two great deals. 2000 Boxxer and 2000 White Brose DH3. Help me decide between the two. Please give me pros and cons of both. They are both pretty light (although boxxer's a bit lighter but not by much). I'm not sure which is stiffer. I hear mixed review about the White Bros though. Some really like it and some really hate it. I think it was discussed here before but I forgot what you guys said about future customer support for white bros forks (since it was sold to some other company).
I have a BoxxerIan F

and would recommend it over a DH-3. Mainly due to the fork's history. The Boxxer has been slightly tweaked since it's introduction in 1998, but the besic design has remained unchanged. Parts are reasonably available and the fork is relatively easy to tune for racing with some practice. What many don't like about the Boxxer is it's generally fast rebound. It's controlled, but it's fast and can feel bouncy to some.

My own personal issues with White Bros' forks are on the reliability side. They seem to be rather high maintainence, although they are not bad forks. Bushings often seem suspect. Eko sports appears to be making a concerted effort to increase customer support.

Like you said, I've heard people love and hate both forks. I really like my Boxxer and it will be hard to replace it with a different fork.

There is NO comparison. The BoXXer is a world class caliber DH fork. The DH3 is an afterthought from a motorcycle company = cr@p!
great comment, for a 10 year oldvitox

the boxxer is a great fork alright

now, id like to hear more about the dh3 from you, i have in my backyard as of now, one boxxer, one dh3 and one s7

all have their pros and cons, the dh3 is a worthy fork, even more now that eko has dropped the plastic bushings white decided to kill their forks with last year,
the dh3 is a really stiff fork with great damping and the best weight of any inverted 7" fork, its a lot stiffer and harder to bend than the boxxer, laterally its on par in stiffness with the boxxer, which is great for a 32mm inverted vs a 32mm rightside up
