Which light freeride bike!? Spc Enduro or...??fil

I'm considering buying a light freeride bike.
I have a strict buget of £1300 (UK pounds) or $1800.
I had a look at the 2002 Specialized Enduro (the cheapest one) which just fits in my buget.
What other bikes should I consider??

Cheers

the 4-5" of travel ajustment with only the flick of a lever seems to work really well. I've ridden a few rides with Jilm who rides one and he uses it all the time, pretty neat option I think. As for the rest of the bike it looks ok as a "light freerider" like you describe. You also might be able to swing a Giant AC2 which would probably take a little more abuse, but it can't run a dual crown fork(I dont know if an enduro can).

You can't beat the Endurojedi

It's served me well and takes a real beating.. Check www.pinkbike.com in the photos, search for Jedi, you'll see that they stand up to some big drops.. Try pricing out just the drivetrain, wheelset and brakes on it and you'll see these parts bought seperately would be more than the bike!

Is there such thing as a light freeride bike. If there is by the time
your done replacing the "light" parts its not any more. light means light duty doesn't it?
light freeride bike!? Spc Enduro or...??bighit

i am building a light freeride bike for light freeriding and am using the enduro as a base. i had last years model and it was an xc frame. it didnt inspire confidence. this year the frame feels very stiff. if you want a freerider to do drops and some dh get the bighit(i also have one)it is much beefier. the enduro is a hardkore trail bike that can take a lot,but it has xc roots. if you are light it will do fine. i am over 200lbs so i use it as my xc bike.
