| Opinions on Balfa Frames | ellsworth Jan 28, 2002 4:24 PM | | I am thinking of getting a Balfa BB7 or 2Step. I live in New England and in order to go down, I have to go up. I would be doing drops of anywhere between 5 and 10 ft and will be going bigger in the future. Would these bikes work for the type of riding I do. Also, how much do these frames cost. How well do they pedal. Any info would be great. |

| re: Opinions on Balfa Frames | marc g Jan 28, 2002 4:47 PM | | I ordered a bb7 it should be in two to three weeks. I haven't ridden one but everyone Ive talked to say the same thing,it's super strong and pedals great. I saw the frame at a shop it is fairly heavy but that's the price you pay.the head tube on this thing is massive.I'll let you know how it is as soon as it arrives.
p.s. where in new england do you live? I mostly ride at vietnam in milford. later |

| re: Opinions on Balfa Frames | ellsworth Jan 28, 2002 6:49 PM | | As Nick Kona stinky said we live near Beverly. This is about 30 or 40 minutes north of Boston right on Rt 128. Definitely get back to me after you ride the BB7. I've heard about Vietnam and want to check it out. Hopefully it doesn't get closed down. Later. |

If you want a serious DH bike there are lots of options and my first recommendation would be the BB7.
heres why
a) you want a tough ass rear end, wells its one of the only DH bikes out there with a cromoly rear end
b) parallel tradjectory, the rear wheel moves back and up to mimic the line of your fork allowing for better steering through techincal section because both wheels are doing the same thing
c) canadian made and owned
d) fits all aftermarket shocks
e) beefy CNC linkage plates and new chainguide pulley with extra bearings
f) high pivot, the high pulley system allows for the the rear end travel to not be influence by chain increased tension during rear wheel travel, it give the rear end a completely independant movement with no chain tension induced movement
g) new international chain guide mounts, so no bottom bracket mounts anymore to slide when you hit a rock
h) its one of the cheapest premium world cup worthy frames out there
i) because the rear end isn't influenced by chain tension it becomes a great pedaler
your choice is clear |
| wrong on d) | jaydub Jan 29, 2002 5:12 AM | | Avalanche won't fit on Balfa.... according to a previous owner who wanted the upgrade. |
| read the interview... | FlipFantasia Jan 29, 2002 7:15 AM | | for 2002 the shcok area has been increased and it will now fit and avalanche, previous years owners are out of luck but the 2002 is good to go for the avalanches... |
