What about a Kona Roast with a Statos S5(5 posts)

What about a Kona Roast with a Statos S5Frank

I am looking for a do anything bike... to ride in the winter and impossible mud, jumping, etc... I think a tuff hardtail with DS or DH geometry would be perfect. It is for fun and also to have a second bike that can be ridden in very bad conditons and stay corrrect.

Someone is selling a Kona Roast with a Statos S5 (and Hayes) on it... a little overkill, maybe.. but right along what I imagined. Is that setup working ok for what I want? Can I put a very large tire in the back on the Roast? Will the triple crown render the bike unridable? Anyone ride a hardtail with a DH fork?
buy it !#2

A Kona Roast is very strong & will work killer with a Stratos...I got a DS-1 with a 120mm BLack on it & it rocks !go to www.unrealcycles.com & check out the photo's >..........here is the DS-1 with a Stratos s5

Yeah, those bikes look awsome... but the Roast is not sloped like a DS bike... a 24, or a Planet X would be incredible... but too expensive for a second bike. I have yet to find a DS course around Montreal anyway... Also, if I cannot fit a large enough tire in the back, it won"t be really confortable, even with a Statos up front.

Well... I think I won't be able to resist... The other option would be to buy a cheap new burly hardtail and upgade it little by little...
got a JFC with an FR5auntesther

and its great. super stable downhilling, a lil portly but I know I am not gonna break it ( or at least I hope not) climbing is slow but then again, a 21 lb bike would make me fast anyway. go for it, dont think you will be disappointed.
