here's what we do here in Canada.....tully
Dec 9, 2003 8:29 PM
You see, it might be "cool" and "super wicked awesome" to you yanks posting pics of the 5, 10, and even 12 ft drops you guys call "huge". But here in Hell's kitchen called Canada, thats a waste of freakin time. Go big or go home (to the US).
Here's a wee taste.
Hope the pic works.

So what's that in the bottom left coner? A little house he was flying into? And how many people do that in Canada? Yeah, almost forgot: in Russian, we ski much better!

so photo chop or not? if real, that is just stupid(i say that because i have been humbled). besides, there is always someone going bigger with more skill(yes bigger then that, even some americans...gasp). and 10-15 footers are plently big for 99% of the riders out there(you crash, your most likely going to get hurt bad). besides, all this big hit mountain biking stuff started in canada, we need time to catch up.
Do you see what I see?Lucky13

Is that a single crown fork?
absolutely no skills is right....Pat T.®
Dec 10, 2003 10:25 AM
Sheesh the tires are flat on the bottom, the single crown fork, and it looks like an old Crack'n'fail.... can't get enough detail to really tell what the frame is.... but it's a photoshop. Funny how everything but the bike and rider are clear...LOL
must have some skills..........WestCoastHucker
Dec 10, 2003 1:02 PM

geez, you talentless yanks dont have a sense of humor...zedro

admit it, the origin of the biggest hucker is in direct relation to a countries superiority.

USA! USA! USA!
Hey, we don't need no stinkin' Canucks!TNC
Dec 10, 2003 6:12 AM
LOL! See I have a sense of humor. You know, it's funny that one of the coolest things about this site is seeing and hearing what other riders all over the world are doing. In fact it would be great to see and hear more from other areas we don't hear much about. Why would anyone be upset over that. I wonder why we don't hear more from Australia, since it seems there's a lot of bike action there. And they do speak English there, so there's at least no language barrier--unlike Canada...sorry Zedro, couldn't resist...LOL!
"going small" is the new "going big" nmRik

I'd rather just ride a wheelie down the street.
dont make me get started on americans...finchy
Dec 10, 2003 1:56 PM
is it just me or are americans becoming war loving patriotic nuts! every american i have spoken to in the last 2 years beleves that they are the best and none are better (sounds familiar to nazis!), its jsut plain anoying! if you take a look at a foreing news cast such as bbc or cbc and compare it to cnn, the news is completely different. The cnn news is full of patriotic crap that isnt really news! Todays american really is educated by cnn and it is disturing. is it jsut me or do you guys think that the media has manipulated its audience to beleve prpaganda that isnt true! americans should wake up and realize that their country is in deep trouble, just look at the iraq war or all of the terrorist threats america gets each day, do u see canada get any of those? Nope because it is a peace keeping nation not a war amking country. the only reason the states invaded iraq was for oil. every body knows it accept for americans :-)

ps canada had a war with the states and we won and burned down the white house!

o yeah one other thing the word america implys the continent of north america, so when a person calls themelves an american cuz they are from the states they are wroung because anybody from the westurn hemesphere is actually an american!
so what is someone called from the states???
whoa! easy there buddy.....zedro
Dec 10, 2003 2:13 PM
all you had to say is their Nationalistic (quebecers suffer the same thing). I'm guessing you cant lump all Americans into that, thats alot of media stereotyping. Its usually the loudmouths that get the attention, so more moderate people will seem to not exist.
Its the American media thats really messed up; they dont rock any political boat, but would rather pacify people with MJ/OJ ultra sensationaless trials/stories whatever.

I have to go needlessly consume goods now...
i agree with you guys...COmtbiker12
Dec 10, 2003 2:28 PM
I live in Colorado, and have noticed over the last few years that the country's become more and more nationalistic, so much that most of the time its annoying as hell to hear. people will try to come back with arguements about that with things like we're so lucky to be free, and its such a great country, and to an extent i agree, but a lot of people, atleast where i live are so full of believing that the u.s. has the right to control the world, and set examples for other countries. at school right now, we're reading animal farm, and although its based off the russian revolution, i'm seeing some very similar characteristics to how our government works and how they often use propaganda to shift the people into believing things.
funny, i totally agree about the CO statment.......WestCoastHucker
Dec 10, 2003 2:33 PM
until about a year ago, i used to live in "The Peoples Republic of Boulder." talk about some people being full of themselves........
well the US is an empire....zedro
Dec 10, 2003 3:04 PM
and if anything around the world will indirectly affect them, they will step in (hey, it makes the US great).

whats funny is the growing US social model ends up turning into a tad Totalitarian (think post 9/11 psyche), but completly through different means. People often think that means people are forced to believe something, but really its about beign fooled into beleiving something, then willingly participating in its enforcement.

Ok enough scary stuff...

PS. after Animal Farm, read Orwells 1984. If you dont take it literally but rather metaphorically, you'll see complete parallels in there. Its super-freaky...
awesome pic....kona clump

thats a pretty damn big drop, good job, im not gonna sit here and say "photoshop" or anything i think its 100% do-able, but just because you hit that your now the f*cking king of drops and everyone else is a poser? who cares if you think the 5,10, 12ft drops are for pussies..how the f*ck do you think you got to the point where you are now? i can comfortably say you didnt just decide "hmm, i think today im gonna try a drop, lets start with jumping 30ft off a roof" that bullsh*t, great pic, huge drop, but loose the ego..it only makes you look like a dick..
my .02 cents
So....you're sayingAli
Dec 10, 2003 3:56 PM
that you want to see all these "check the new drop we built" pics of 5 ft-ers to flat in a parking lot? Not me. I'm tired of it. I want to see progression, pushing the limits (read: extreme sport), not Jonny leisure riding on his bicycle. Sure it's maybe cool and really tech for Jonny, but for the majority of the rest of us (and most cdn. riders), it's boring to look at.
If that makes me look like a dick, then I'm fine with looking like a dick.
That's my .03 cents!
dosen't make you a dick......WestCoastHucker

i totally agree with westcoasthucker, i have never had to say anything negative on this forum before but this just pisses me off,i didnt wanna drag this into my reply but you think because your canadian that makes you better? i dont give a flying f*ck where you from, just because your canadian doesnt mean you have a special trait that makes you a good rider, riding your bike all you can makes you a good rider....i hope you never talk to anyone just getting into freeride, because that 5ft flat drop into a parking lot they just did probably put them ontop of the world, then to have a cocky peice of shit like yourself come over and be like "hey that was gay, your a pussy, starting doing stuff bigger or go home" that would completely kill that persons rush. ive never met anyone in person that i mountain bike with who has talked shit like you..i hope you wise up because if you keep the attitude you have right now your not gonna have any decent people to ride with, only people like yourself, then you can ride around and talk shit about people who arent dropping the shit you are. what happened when someone comes along and COMPLETELY f*cking schools your ass who ISNT canadian, or hasnt been riding as long as you, or doesnt have as good of a bike as you??? are you gonna talk shit then?....something to think about
dont make me get started on americans...dumbass
Dec 10, 2003 2:56 PM
funny how you are talking about being educated. have you re-read your post? i dont think that ive seen so many spelling errors in one paragraph in my entire life.

send in the mounties eh!!
You machine is obviously alive and well!FFJ
Dec 10, 2003 3:16 PM
Don't diss our propaganda. Have you ever considered that your propaganda machine (BBC or CBC)may not be totally objective either. The media spins thing the way that best suits their audience. There are two sides to every coin, but they are still on the same coin. Is it true that the age of consent is 14 in Canada? If so who is really the one that's F'd up?
John
P.S. Dont' hate the U.S. because you are our red-headed bastard step brother ;)!!

...and someone is really supposed to believe you have a clue?

Americans are war loving nuts, yet you put out the "we can kick your ass" statement of Canadians fought the US once and burned the White House. Showing some of the American-like tendencies you are bitching about there dumbass?

United States of America....Americans
Mexico....Mexicans
Canada...Canadians

Would you prefer if we called ourselves Staticans? How about Unitedicans? What would you prefer, brainiac?

I've got some great advice for you - don't ride with a helmet, maybe you'll get smarter.

I guess I shouldn't have toasted homie the clown, but somebody needed to knock him off the very short soap box he was standing on.

Was that the Canadian TV show that featured dumb Americans? If so I thought it sounded funny - there are plenty of dumb Americans around, I see them every day!

where is the damned oil...BigMike
Dec 11, 2003 3:46 AM
...our capitalist totalitarian nation invaded iraq for the oil but i still pay 1.90 a gallon - what gives??
terrorists threaten canada? you're right, it does'nt happen. cause it would be like kicking your little sister. terrorists threaten the U.S. cause we kick ass where it's needed, for the good of the whole planet. not hide behind our borders, cry about what a bully the country is that actually has the sack to stand up to someone like hussein, yet be first in line to take advantage of the profit of re-building the region where the war took place. you are nothing but a bunch of misplaced frenchies...

we're all mountainbikers.

It looks like he took the pinbike logo off cuz of their posters' stellar reputation. I remember hearing the story behind it and I believed it at the time. Pretty certain they're real shots.
Same shot w/o block.wirly
Dec 10, 2003 6:35 PM
lame to edit the rider and photographer off the shot.
Yup... I was wrongPat T.®
Dec 10, 2003 9:35 PM
I got home and inverted the colors which usually shows any place that a picture is messed with, they are real. Damn, can't believe he did that on what looks like single crown fork.
i don't buy it...BigMike
Dec 11, 2003 3:55 AM
...i don't have to invert the colors to see the flat spots under each wheel. fake.....
It's the shadows thoughPat T.®
Dec 11, 2003 8:08 AM
That's the only reason I don't think they are fake is because of the shadows, if they are fake then they do nice work. I saw the flat spots too.... I'd never try it that's for sure, even as good as my medical is LOL
i'm not sellin' it, but...wirly
Dec 11, 2003 8:24 AM
in my experience with digital imagery, whether original or converted, circles are tough for the technology and very frequently are flat spotted on top, bottom and sides. Thats just what happens wen you try to make big circles with little squares. Similar problem with diagonal lines. Is the house fake cuz the roof lines ar jagged rather than pefectly straight? I'm going with no.

Look at the Watson tour gap jump people were driping was a fake, it has a huge divot out of the front tire, that's digital video plus compression for you. The shot is real.

Also they went ahead and made up two shots with two different guys?? Equal "glory" I guess, you don't want your buddy to get all the fame for starring the the fake drop shot. ;-)
yeah I see the flat spots_rich_
Dec 11, 2003 5:32 AM
It looks like he was originally just rolling off something....nice work though
