I know this is the DH section, but i see alot of you ride a ht to become smoother. firstly i got a sheet load of money from an uncle an i've been thinking of building a downhill HT or street hardtail? in either case i would use the Banshee Morphine, id like 1 frame that could go either way (im open to sugestions for a different frame) also id probably use dual 24 in both case, but i do have a spare 26 front wheel, id go with the sherman breakout in both cases and possible a single speed also in both situations, help would be great as this would be a life long bike.
aiiiight. hardtails are the shit.mosplat

and a morphine should be phat for whatever you wanna do;
banshee made the frame to be as versatile as possible
for an extreme duty bike.
dual 24s will be great for street,
and having the spare 26 would be good to switch for dh.
thing is, do morphines have 1.5 headtubes now?
I thought they did not before,
so you couldn't run a breakout.

I have a freeride/street hardtail myself;
brooklyn park bike with 26/24, a z1, and singlespeed.
I love it.

singlespeed is much easier to run than gears.
never drop a chain, plus it's a lot lighter without
the derailleur, cassette, shifters, chainguide, etcetera.
you just gotta find the right one for your riding and terrain.

good for you!

not sure if i spelled it right but it sounds like it is perfect for you. i dont ride one but i hear they are sweet. and also you can get it with the 1.5 ht so you can run the sherman. + the bike looks totally badass.

the morphine is a super burley frame. i rode a demo one for about a month and a half untill the rep had to give it back to banshee. i rode it more than my duel squishy bike. i thrashed that bike or it thrashed me. i loved it. it held up to everything i threw at it. it had a dj3 up front 26/24 wheels. if i had the money to buy one right now the morphine would be up there on my list. you should also take a look at the balfa minoutman. look at what that crazy russ morrell has done on that frame. i rode his up at dearvally for a few runs and that thing was sweat, i didnt want to give it back. i like the fact that it made out of steel. either way you go you will be happy. HARDTAIL PRIDE FOREVER!!!!!!

The geometry on the Evil is hard to beat. But you should decide what you want - a DH hardtail or a street machine. These are two totally different builds IMHO. Then there's the steel vs aluminum question. I went with Evil beacause, well, it's fukkin' Evil. Here's my 24/24 SS.

I got mine from unrealcycles.com. I've since gone with a 34/18 set up that works without a tensioner (middle position) and is good for slow speed manuevers. I'm not a big fan of tensioners. Or horizontal drop outs.
