5th Element Service - turnaround time(15 posts)

5th Element Service - turnaround timefreeriderB

I've read over the last couple of weeks that Progressive is rather slow in returning shocks from service. (I'm not putting them down because I'm sure the volume is extremely high for them).

If I were to send a shock in today, how long can I honestly expect to wait for it to return?

Do they ship overnight or 2 day air? Or do they use snail mail (7-10 days)?

I'm trying to coordinate my servicing with the recent snowfall. It's melting, so I'm hesitant to send it out if I'm going to be stuck for 4-6 weeks without it.

Feedback?

I sent in mine at the beginning of November, and still haven't received it. Even though I have been guaranteed that it would be here first by Thanksgiving and then by last weekend. I understand that they have a high volume, but they should of told me that at the beginning, and then I could of made a more informed decision. All I know is that after pedalling around on my Fox RC for the past week, the more I miss my 5th. The product is great, but so far the customer service has sucked.

my 1 day turnaround in Vancouver BC took a week. You might consider shipping it here, the service is done by a local shop that is authorized and it might be a lot faster. you could check by calling steedcycles.com or johnhenrybikes.com, and ask. You have to go thru an LBS.And of course there's a border involved, but hey, doesn't cost a lot to ask. BTW, my service was free, which I didn't expect, nor did mt LBS.

good luck, Jim

Sent it in at least a month ago. They said turnaround would be a week. Then several weeks but definitely by T-giving. He still doesn't have it. So plan on 4-6 weeks at least I'd say. Maybe you can find a Fox for cheap on ebay for the time being. S

I'm thinking of buying an avalanche and then using the 5th as a backup.

How much is a Fox RC for a Bullit?

Thanks.
My experiences have both been goodMC1

They did it for free, though it was under warranty still, and it was in a reasonably fast timeframe, 7-10 days total. I did ship it to them overnight to help speed up the whole process.

When we get a shock in for service (warranty or regular) we like to update the shock to our current specs (seals, etc) or whatever improvements we have made.

I understand PUSH is a very fine company but they are NOT a Progressive Suspension authorized service center. Having them or any other non-authorized dealer service your shock will void the warranty. We are not trying to be "hard ass" about it. But the internals (Control Valve Technology) is completely different from normal velocity sensitive damping (shims, etc) and service centers have to be trained and have the proper tools to work on our shocks.

Yes they aren't very good with the warranty thing. Unfortunetly you can't send it any where else and get it fixed for free.

For awhile it was 3-4 weeks as we got seriously backlogged due to a lot of circumstances. However we have gotten the turnaround down to under a week lately and hope to get it back down to 2-3 days shortly. We have new people coming on board which will help a lot. We apologize for the delays. Wish it hadn't happened but sometimes a shortage of personnel will do that. We understand how important customer service is and are striving to be the best.
