| SGS EXPERT VS SGS SPORT | finchy Dec 11, 2003 1:37 PM | | HEY GUYS WHATs UP^^^
well ive got a question. I want a new bike well, in fact I need a new bike and I have basically 2 models that I have narrowed it down to the SGS Sport or the SGS Expert. I would like to know what the differences basically are between the 2 models other then price. Any info would be helpful and by the way im 6.1 and 217 pounds so im not sure that the psylo would hold up! |

It is basically identical to the 03 expert as far as I can tell from the interbike pics. So you would be better off going with the 03 over the 04 because it will be much cheaper. I think you can still get an 03 expert for 1499 at supergo. That is the best deal of the year for any freeride bike! A comparable bike is the yeti asx and it is 2600 dollars. The 03 sgs sport is also a good deal but I think you will find yourself upgrading parts (like the psylo) not long after you buy it. |
| Supergo actually has the 03 expert now, haven't been.... | COmtbiker12 Dec 11, 2003 6:00 PM | | able to find it there for a while. they've got it on sale for 1499, and have the sport for 899. i'm in a similar situation with looking at a new bike, and i too weigh close to 200#. i wonder if it would be worth getting the sport and then selling the fork and possibly rear shock, make a few bucks off that, and then stick some better stuff on it, but i bet it'd just be cheaper to get the expert. |
| The sport is a great bike... | MVRIDER Dec 12, 2003 7:25 AM | | But you will be up grading the suspension.. sooner or later. Especially if you are in the 180lb+ range. I got one for my girlfriend, she loves it and it's definetly a competent bike for light freeriding, but after 1 season she upgraded the suspension. We put on a JR T., it doesnt really matter what fork you put on it, just get rid of that P.O.S. Psylo. Nothing but problems and undersprung to match. You might think of getting a beefier spring on the rear end as well. Other than that they are a steal. They can handle small drops, sprint fast and even climb a little. |
