HELP me calculate my possible head angle...(4 posts)

HELP me calculate my possible head angle...ChrisAgain
Dec 11, 2003 7:39 PM
..for a bike i am about to build up. I will be using (i posted below as well)a minute man with a 2003 supert and 24/26 x 2.7 high rollers. As far as i know, the mintueman has a 68* HA w/ a 4" fork and dual 26" wheels. My 24" rear should drop it about a half of degree and an additional 3" of travel should drop an additional degree and a half (at about a half degree per inch). So, i would end up with about a 66* head angle where is alot of DH/Fr bikes fall. sound about right? Furthermore, if i am using it for steep lines and drops/gaps, is this about where id want to be before sag? I will NOT be using this for "street" riding as i have another lighter, steeper bike for that stuff. thanks

could be wrong, but i think it's much closer to 1' per inch of extra travel / 24" wheel, not 1/2'.

imagine the actual number would depend on the rake of the fork etc.
upto a degree and a half per inch....zedro

depending on the wheelbase and HA, and weither its the fork or wheel being changed. So expect at least an inch per degree, but usually its a tad more.

thanks guys. however, after realizing that this would be a RIDICUILOUSLY slack bike i went and purchased a .243 racing frame instead (a bit steeper). thanks again
