| cool. looks fun..... | WestCoastHucker Jan 20, 2004 4:16 PM | | how long to build something that size? |
| cool. looks fun..... | HappyStinkyMan Jan 20, 2004 4:38 PM | | Took 2 dedicated riders about a month and a half.....weekends, holidays, and the occasional late night (flashlight assisted). Hardest part is carrying all the wood uphill and into the area. Heavy! Especially, if it is wet. |

| While I can appreciate the effort... | Bulldog Jan 20, 2004 4:52 PM | | ...the natural terrain there looks just fine to me. I mean, maybe some grooming and a little dirt relocation, but looks rideable and fun to me. I'm more a fan of using the natural terrain. Unless maybe that gulley turns into a creek in different seasons? |
| Yeah, it is a creek crossing | HappyStinkyMan Jan 20, 2004 5:00 PM | | with water maybe 1'+ deep and much much wider along with mud, probably about 8 months of the year (here in rainy Oregon). Actually, this stunt is on a entire new cut trail on the opposite side of the creek and original trail (which can be seen in the first picture along the top). Natural terrain is fun, don't get me wrong, I just got back from the Red Bull in Virgin and that is what natural terrain is all about. The hills here need some more N. Shore influence...... |
| re: It's finally ridable...... | CORTINA RIDER Jan 20, 2004 5:39 PM | | I'm going to be in grants pass going to Bent in April can I come play? I always look for new trails to ride when I leave California and love riding in Oregon. Let me know if we can get togeather!

| Is that in ashland? | Freerider Forever Jan 20, 2004 5:59 PM | | You said near grants pass, im from ashland, and Im wondering if its near town. Looks pretty damn sweet, I'd like to get some footage there for my local ashland film I will am producing. Let me know, thanks. |
| Is that in ashland? | HappyStinkyMan Jan 21, 2004 4:36 PM | | No, Grants Pass. Head out of town on HWY 238 towards Murphy and Applegate. Turn on Espey Rd. near the golf course, explore the trails at the end of this road in Cathedral Hills and you will find it. |
| WHY IS IT SO WIDE???? | MUSTCLIME Jan 20, 2004 6:38 PM | | Why is it so wide? You could have used half the wood if you made it a foot wide. This would keep xc geeks off as well.....
repeat after me.....make it tall and make it skinny! |
| WHY IS IT SO WIDE???? | kona clump Jan 21, 2004 8:32 AM | | Not only does it look like something your going to air into with speed but its off camber and over a 1 ft of mud and water. Sometimes its better to have things alittle wide, sure they could have built it 8inches wide but when you come rippin down that trail goin fast and air into it you dont want it that skinny. Is it so bad to keep the XCers off that stuff? i dont really think it is. How do you think the north shore started? XCers riding on a big blow down on rigid bikes. Maybe riding something like that can maybe give them a little shuv towards freeriding. Great work happystinkyman, looks good! still no snow huh? we got only like 8-10inches but its supposed to get back down in the negative temps here this week. |
| sweeet...is that grip tape on the landing? | Pdirt Jan 20, 2004 8:17 PM | | It's gonna need it here in oRegone...
541... |
| Actually, it's pieces of a cotton fiber backed.... | HappyStinkyMan Jan 21, 2004 4:33 PM | | sanding belt. Works awesome wet or dry. Hopefully, it will hold up pretty well too. |
| re: It's finally ridable...... | Kat10 Jan 21, 2004 10:19 AM | | NICE! Looks like fun. I think it's good that it's kind of wide. Good job. |
