question for 888r home mechanics(1 post)

question for 888r home mechanicsearl
Jan 22, 2004 10:04 AM
I just took delivery of a slightly used 888r. Emphasis hopefully on the "slightly", it was supposed to be a demo fork. Anyhow, there are some sorta heavy wrench marks on the gold nuts at the bottom of the fork legs. What sort of work might have already been done on this fork, and what should I either keep an eye on, or recheck before I ride? I figured with Marz reputation, a used fork should still be bomber, but the wrenching (and lack of skill it seems to represent) has me a bit curious/worried.

By the way, I haven't downloaded the manual yet, but I assume those bolts just attach the the damping rods to the legs, and hold the whole works together. I know they didn't take them off to check the oil level...
