Bike for Multi-Day Eventonetrack

Our team is trying to decide what bike choice make more sense for Multi day racing( trans rockies and other 100 mile events ) Light weight F.S. or Ti hardtails. I have noticed many riders (spot team, team scott) still taking hardtails. Others say they would never ride a hardtail again. Looking for feed back.

If you can swing enough extra parts and wrench time to keep a FS running in the worst imagineable conditions then you might be better off. The hardtail will require less maintenance to keep rolling.

As for the Transrockies based on what I heard from a participant last year you're definitely better off with the lightest most reliable setup you can have since conditions were so bad that bikes were getting torn up by the course. Also bikes were being carried for extensive portions of the event and most FS designs are terrible for portaging.
