I'll take part to 2004 transrockies, my goal is to end the race; I'm doubtful weter to buy an hardtail or a FS, any suggestion?

Looking at the bikes on the show, it appeared several of the top teams had hardtails. The show itself was really well done with excellent footage and interviews. It was interesting enough that I realised that I'd like to ride it someday - finding the ideal partener willing to do 6 consecutive enduros is the first challenge though.

I ride a Scalpel and Fatty which was specifically oriented/spec'd for enduros. The short travel is perfect for rough stuff, and dual (remote rear) lockouts and laterally stiff design are very efficient on gravel.
Fritz....I'd love to do it! Seriously! (nm)SS_MB-7

Pure fluke I caught it really. I was taping the 24 hr solo championships segment of Ride Guide on OLN earlier and noticed on the TV Guide that "TransRockie Challenge" was on soon after (different channel though). It was the 2003 race, the one almost cancelled because of the fires.

I can look into the production name if you'd like and let you know.

Ride Guide did the TransRockies filming in 2003 (which was the segment on Global you're talking about). You might be able to get a copy from the TransRockies organizers...just a thought.

..... and it was inspiring. Now to just find a suitable partner, log 100's of hours of saddle time, get the time off work, and the $$$$. One thing at a time.

Anybody have a VCR tape of the transrockies race? If you could send me a tape I'd be glad to pay for cost + shipping + something reasonable. I'm in the US and I don't think they televised it here. I'm thinking about riding it next year, and I'd like to get a better feal for what it's all about.

And - if you're on east coast (the closer to Washington DC the better) I'm in the hunt for a partner.
