2004's 24 Hours of 7 Springs Race, any info and experience?spanger

A couple of friends and I are looking to ride in the 7 Springs 24 hour race outside of Pittsburgh, PA. So far I haven't found any info on the race, but the LBS's are saying that it is more fun than the 24 Hours of Snowshoe (at least compared to last years weather related conditions). Does anyone know any info on the race, and has anyone raced this? This will be our first 24 hour race, and we are pretty stoked about it, but there isn't any information on the race itself that I can find. We are looking to do a couple of these, and we were told that this would be a good first to get under our belts. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Peace out!

I did this race this past year, me and partner Mike Maher won the Duo Division and actually took home some cash! Yes, it is a great race. No, there's no info posted on the web right now - I checked all my old email links to the http://www.7springs.com site and they were no longer valid.

The race is sponsered by Ford. Don't recall that any bike shop sponsers it as well, but Speedgoat (http://www.speedgoat.com) is a local shop and can give info. Race isn't as "corporate" and still has a grassroots feel. Keith Bontrager even showed up this year and was on the winning corporate team.

The course is 12 miles long with a grat mix of everything. Even despite the rain this past year, it was still 80% ridable by the end of the race, albeit treachourous. It's always Labor Day weekend, which also is the Shenandoah 100 race - tough decision. Technical rock gardens, good descents, lot's of singletrack, double track, some gravel roads, one big climb at end.

I can email you a humourous, but detailed account of the experience that Mike and I wrote for our riding friends if your interested.

I would check the 7springs site next summer, or post another message on this board for info.

Did this race for the first time this year. What a blast. Fast course with a nice mix of rocks/fast decents/and climbs. I do agree it's more fun than Snowshoe (also raced last year) more laid back, and less $$$!!
It's wierd you won't see any posted info on the 7 Springs website 'till about the end of July. I'd still do Snowshoe too.
Snowshoe hurts and makes you feel like you did some major sh*t.
Springs is more fun (at least as fun as fun as 24 hours in the mud can be)
