| Any thoughts on the The 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo | Calvin Jan 11, 2004 9:14 PM | | Some friends were thinking about doing this race and I wondered if anyone might have some feedback or suggustions. What is the course like? Quality of the event? Weather? How is the camping set up?
Thanks. |

Did this race last year.
The course is half singletrack half double track. There was about 500 ft of climbing per lap. It was very wet last year, but I could see sand as an issue in places. The whole area is nothing but cactus. Make sure you have slime tubes, or run tubeless with some sort of sealant.
Was nothing but impressed with the quality of the event. The timing was done well. Each person I spoke with involved with the race was friendly and helpful. The event had a real friendly atmosphere. Results were posted quickly and awards were fun.
As to weather. Last year it rained hard for a week before the race. The morning of the race it cleared. I could see it being dry and hot if there has been no recent rains.
Camping is a not a problem. There is lots of room in a big open area. Watch out for cactus.
