| Derailleur adjustment question | Ted Oct 11, 2001 4:50 PM | | I know how to adjust my front XT. I know how to adjust my rear XTR. But when they're both in need of adjustment, does it make a difference which you adjust first? Seems like it could be a never ending circle. |

To set the inner limit on the front derailluer the rear should be on the innermost (biggest )cog. To set the outer limit @ the front the rear should be in the smallest cog. To set the rear you must position the front accordingly. Limit screw adjustments should be a one time thing unless something gets bent or changed. To set cable tension at the rear start in the middle ring in the middle of the cogset. Go back and forth between the same two cogs until up and down shifting is equal. On a dualie you may want to err on the side of the upshift (bigger cog) to minimize ghostshifting. Good luck! |
