Rapid fire front, Sram rear? (5 posts)
| Rapid fire front, Sram rear? | Stu Oct 14, 2001 11:45 AM | | Anyone have any experience using Rapidfire front shifters and Sram grip shift on the rear together. I've used both and My prefference leans that way. Will Rapidfires work with a Sram front mech? Stu |
| It can be done... | ®andyA Oct 14, 2001 11:59 AM | | ... I don't use that setup myself, but it will work. And yes, the SRAM F/D will work with a Shimano RF.
Hope that helps,

People have given my bike a test ride and didn't even notice. It works fine. The only problem is your grip to brake lever spacing is different on each side.

| re: Rapid fire front, Sram rear? | Redshift Oct 18, 2001 11:53 AM | | I'm with you. Attack shifter on the left and rapidfire right, works great. I use some Lock-on grip fakes. They use a hex nut on both ends of the grip to secure to the bar but don't have the hard inner core like the ODI grips and they are a tight fit on the bar like a normal grip. I just used a exacto and cut the grip to fit and tightened the hell out of the remaining bolt. This works very well. No slippage and the levers are in the correct place. Sorry I'm not sure of the brand, but I think they're Serfas. |
