gore cable with 9-sp drivetrain problem(1 post)

gore cable with 9-sp drivetrain problemJKM

I recently installed a rear GORE shifter cable on my 9-sp drivetrain (LX shifter, XT cassette). I've installed them before on 8-sp drivetrains with no problem. This time however, I can't get the shifter to index correctly - it consistently throws a double-shift somewhere in the middle of the cogset. It only takes 8 shifts to run through the whole cogset, and the 9th would send it into the spokes (if the limit screw would allow). It's like the shifter is pulling slightly too much cable. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
