I need a 58mm 4 bolt granny, anyone know who makes a good one?
All I can find is Sugino junk.

Are you sure? Most 4 bolt compact patterns are 104/64 BCD.

If 64mm 4 bolt is what you are looking for, Black Spire makes them as well as Shimano, Race Face, TruVativ, QBP, Vuelta, etc...
yes, 58 mm 4 boltzobozo

I run steel granny and middle rings because I climb a lot in the middle and put a lot of load on the ring. heavier, yeah, but I just suck it up and go.

we're talking 58/94mm standard compact, not those awful looking 4-bolt monstrosities....Lots of sources for the grannies, check your shop. For the middles, I take them off cheap low-end cranks. sometimes folks I know want to "upgrade" to an alloy middle, so I swap them. Nashbar recently was selling a cheap Coda compact with steel rings for $19, so I bought one of those. Ask at your LBS, bet they have some steel take-off rings lying around they'll sell or even give you.
